It’s October again – National Safe Work Month – and we at Synaco by Synergie always welcome this yearly occasion to highlight the importance of safety in the workplace. 

While we firmly believe that safety procedures must be ingrained into all workplace practices on a daily basis, it is also very important to dedicate a special time every year when the crucial topic of workplace safety can be put into the spotlight.

With so much said and written about the importance of safe workplaces, there is still a risk that the concept of safety can sometimes be viewed as no more than a mandatory set of regulations to comply with in order to “tick a box”. During October – Safe Work Month, we ensure that safety is actively promoted at key client sites around the country. We use a variety of engaging, interactive approaches – from morning teas and BBQ sessions to holding interactive toolbox talks and using dedicated signage. As a result, multiple opportunities and platforms are created for our clients and employees to share knowledge and engage in important safety conversations.

The combination of formal and informal approaches that we use for getting our safety messages across ensures that we communicate them effectively – because, as all of us know from personal experience, an informal, personal conversation over a cuppa can be just as impactful as a few hours of formal training. So, keeping safety messages engaging and alive is what we focus on – and our consistently low incident rates speak for themselves.

The role of our National Safety Manager

Meet our strategic safety asset: Rino Caprioli, our dedicated National Safety Manager. The essence of Rino’s role is his ability to swiftly traverse the nation to be on-site – exactly where and when he is needed. Practically, this means that both our partners and employees always feel secure and supported.

Our clients know that Rino’s relationship with them extends beyond mere partnership, and he will always be there for them when needed – whether it is through his regular site visits or to resolve some of their emerging concerns. Our employees look forward to Rino’s regular toolbox talks, knowing that any of the concerns they raise are going to be given proper consideration.

This is an investment into their professional development that also puts extra emphasis on safety in our workplace, ensuring that our internal operations staff members are vigilant and proactive on all safety matters.
