Glen Cook Wins QCAA Synaco by Synergie Safety Award 2021
Glen Cook has won the prestigious Synaco by Synergie Safety Award at the 2021 Queensland Community Achievement Awards and was presented by Mike Otty, Managing Director, Synaco by Synergie. With hundreds of nominations, Glen Cook won the Award from a strong field of community contributors.
The winners were announced at an Awards Gala Presentation Dinner at Royal on the Park Brisbane on Friday evening 5th November. The Awards were hosted by Kendall Gilding, 7NEWS Presenter.
Over 300 guests gathered from across the State to celebrate Queensland’s high achievers, including Mr Peter Russo MP, Member for Toohey on behalf of the Hon Leeanne Enoch, Minister for Communities and Housing, Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts.
“Glen Cook of Kawungan is a passionate powerline safety advocate. Glen is a Principal Community Safety Specialist who has been working as an electrician for over 29 years within the construction and utilities industries. He has been a first responder to serious injury/burns and fatalities due to third party accidental contact with powerlines. Glen works tirelessly to share safety messages and highlight the very real consequences of the wrong attitude to powerline safety. He communicates his presentations and safety information in terms easily understood by the Agriculture, Aviation and Construction industries. Glen was named Australian Health and Safety Professional of the Year in June 2020.”

• Hello Home Doctor Service of Springfield Lakes – Ricoh Australia Customer Service Award
• Sarah Jantos of Tallebudgera – Australia Pacific LNG Community Hero Award
• Fight 4 Youth of Currumbin – Special Event Presentations Local Sporting Club Making a
Difference Award
• Sobah Beverages of Burleigh Heads – Qoin Small Business Achievement Award
• Green Fox Training Studio of Salisbury – Awards Australia Community Group of the Year Award
Winners each received $500 cash, $1,000 Qoin and a $500 BC Tourism Gift Voucher in Award prizes, along with a trophy.
Ultra Essence was announced as the 2021 People’s Choice Award Winner and received a voucher for 1 nights’ accommodation at the Royal on the Park in a Deluxe Room, $150 dinner credit, full buffet breakfast for two and car parking for 1 vehicle.
The Queensland Community Achievement Awards began in 2002, with a regional focus, but is now conducted state wide. The awards have been encouraging, acknowledging and rewarding the valuable contributions that individuals, communities and businesses are making throughout Queensland. These awards recognise those that work tirelessly to improve their
communities by promoting the social, economic and environmental prosperity.
