Celebrating Safety in the Workplace: New South Wales & Queensland Community Awards Night
Safety is a vital aspect of any workplace, and addressing all potential dangers on the job site and ensuring the highest standards enables employees to have a productive and fulfilling day at work. With safety standards in the workplace continuing to improve over time, previous fatalities and injury data suggest there is room for improvement to ensure employees can remain safe while working.
Safe Work Australia reports that close to 200 workers suffer fatal injuries on the job annually, with construction and manufacturing ranking among the top six industries responsible for a significant portion of these fatalities and serious injuries. In 2021, more than 130,000 work-related injury or illness claims were acknowledged, underscoring the need to emphasise workplace safety and advocate for comprehensive enhancements in this domain.
At Synaco by Synergie, we are dedicated to delivering comprehensive workplace solutions that connect exceptional talent with top-notch employers. We prioritise workplace safety, and our commitment extends to actively identifying and championing innovative initiatives to foster a secure working environment.
As part of our commitment to promoting workplace safety and encouraging safety initiatives in the workplace. Synaco by Synergie is proud to sponsor the Safety Award for the 5th year in Queensland and for the first time in New South Wales.
Let’s learn more about the award and meet this year’s winners.
About the Synaco by Synergie Safety Award
The Synaco by Synergie Safety Award is about giving credit to and highlighting the great safety ideas from organisations or projects. We’re looking for ideas beyond just following rules and showing a strong commitment to safety in an innovative, creative, and all-around way of doing things at work. We want to highlight efforts covering different safety aspects, like having organised training or making the workplace safer.
We’re eager to find initiatives that make a big difference in keeping the employees, clients, and the wider community safe. With this award, our goal is to encourage and celebrate a strong commitment to safety that shows a good understanding of all its different parts.
New South Wales Award Winner
Synaco by Synergie is proud to congratulate William Blakeman of Greigs Flat as this year’s winner of the Synaco by Synergie Safety Award.
Bill transitioned from his maritime career to embody an outstanding dedication to safety and community service. Serving as the Training Officer and Unit Commander at Marine Rescue NSW – Merimbula Unit, he is unwavering in his commitment to professional development, operational readiness, and emergency response preparedness.
Bill’s tireless efforts directly benefit the boating community, volunteers, and the broader public, ensuring that highly trained crews are well-prepared for emergencies. His leadership has led to successful rescues and fostered a culture of safety and collaboration. In addition to his operational role, Bill’s visionary leadership extends to fundraising and advocating for essential resources. His lasting impact on safety and community welfare is immeasurable.
Queensland Award Winner
In the 5th year of being a proud sponsor of the Community Achievement Awards in Queensland, we are thrilled to congratulate community radio station 4RFM of Moranbah as this year’s winners of the Safety Award.
In recognition of their steadfast commitment to road safety, 4RFM has been actively hosting Road Safety Week since 2019. In 2022, they organised a poster design competition, transferring winning designs onto vinyl banners displayed on school fences.
Additionally, 4RFM arranges a special Road Safety parade involving schools, allowing children to engage with Emergency Services personnel and ask questions during the event. Their dedicated efforts reflect a commendable initiative to promote and prioritise road safety within the community.
