2024 Community Awards: Recognising Safety in the Workplace
Safety at work is crucial for any organisation. Eliminating or reducing the main hazards significantly enhances the workplace experience for employees, leading to a more fulfilling and productive day. While better safety measures continue to be discussed regarding established rules, historical data on injuries and fatalities highlights ongoing shortcomings in creating safer workplaces. There is still much work to be done to improve safety standards.
From Safe Work Australia’s reporting of 2023, 200 people die on the jobsite each year, and over 139,000 work-related injury or disease claims. Improving and prioritising workplace safety is imperative for all involved.
Synaco by Synergie is devoted to one-stop workplace solutions, linking extraordinary talent with top employers while ensuring safety. We unremittingly solicit unique initiatives to promote safety that foster secure working environments.
It is with immense pride that we will sponsor the Safety Award within Queensland and New South Wales in recognition of outstanding safety efforts and initiatives. Here’s what you need to know about the awards and who were the winners of this year’s Community Awards.
What are Community Achievement Awards?
The Community Achievement Awards honour the significant contributions made by individuals, businesses, and communities that strive to improve lives and promote progress in Queensland, New South Wales, and the ACT.
Six years ago, Synaco by Synergie had the privilege of becoming a sponsor of the Queensland Community Achievement Awards. We are proud to support this event, which started in 2002 as a regional-focused initiative. Over the years, it has become a prominent televised statewide awards show featuring various categories and esteemed major sponsors such as 7News and Bendigo Bank.

New South Wales Award Winner
This is the 2nd year we have proudly sponsored the safety award, and we are thrilled to announce that the team at Cycle Safe Bathurst is this year’s winner of the Synaco by Synergie Safety Award in New South Wales for 2024.
Cycle Safe Bathurst is committed to making the roads of Bathurst a safer place for cyclists.
Inspired by the tragic loss of a local cyclist, Cycle Safe is a not-for-profit organisation that partners with community members and government agencies to enhance cycling infrastructure and promote safe road practices.
One of their key initiatives, “Look Out at Roundabouts!” has reached over 420,000 people, raising crucial awareness about cycling safety. By educating both drivers and cyclists on how to navigate roundabouts safely, they aim to significantly reduce accidents.
Their evidence-based approach benefits everyone on the road, including motorists and pedestrians, encouraging a culture of mindfulness and shared responsibility for a safer Bathurst.
Queensland Award Winner
We have proudly sponsored the Community Achievement Awards in Queensland for a sixth year and are excited to continue congratulating excellence in safety. This year, Synaco by Synergie is thrilled for this year’s Queensland recipient Civic Assist of Kearneys Spring.
Civic Assist of Kearneys Spring is dedicated to promoting safety and providing support within the community. This charity empowers individuals through initiatives such as the Youth Street Crew and the Safe Night Precinct.
For over 17 years, Civic Assist has supported young people aged 12 to 24, helping them manage stress and anxiety. They also provide practical assistance to families facing challenges such as homelessness and domestic violence. Among their achievements, Civic Assist has distributed 20,240 bottles of water, facilitated over 5,500 meaningful interactions, and conducted 735 interventions during late-night operations.
Civic Assist demonstrates that everyone can contribute to creating a better tomorrow by fostering a positive environment in the Toowoomba community.
